You will also be entitled to exclusive deals on trips in the surrounding area. There are so many stunning beaches in Mexico you will be spoilt for choice. Cancun is probably the most commonly known destination in Mexico and is famous for its many miles of pristine beaches. The main hotels all sit along the coast looking out onto the beaches. There are north and east side beaches, with the east side being more popular. However don`t worry about finding a spot on the beach, even in high season. There are so many miles of beach they never get really crowded. There are plenty of water and beach sports to choose from and the hotels along the beach offer their guests many facilities including, sun shelters, towels, showers, waiters, and restaurants.

Playa del Carmen is another popular city with tourists and the main beach here runs from the ferry docks to Calle 14. The other beaches are mostly named after resorts. All the beaches are open to the public and the majority of the hotels sit along the coastline. Cozumel is an island off the east coast and is particularly popular for diving and snorkelling. The east side of the island is less popular with tourists so you have a better chance of finding a beach all to yourself. Not so busy with tourists – yet – is Isla Holbox, an island off the north coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. Just seven miles long and one mile wide the island is inhabited by about 1600 people. The beaches here are truly stunning and there are no cars on the island. The discovery of migrating whale sharks has made this little known gem increasingly popular. It is now the best place in the world to see and swim with the whale shark.

A popular day trip form Cancun is Isla Mujeres where beautiful tropical beaches are scattered all around the island. The most popular are in the north end of the island. On the east side of the island is Garrafon Park which provides plenty of water activities.

The Mayan Riviera tourist corridor runs along the coastline of the state of Quintana Roo, beginning at Playa del Carmen and ending historically at Tulum but now incorporates Puerto Morelos and Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The beaches are heavily manicured and have been supplied with fine sand. There are so many resorts that one resort beach often runs into another so it may be difficult to find a quiet spot on the beach. However it is possible to find more secluded spots away from the main resorts. Mexico has so many beaches to choose from that it is a good idea to think about what type of beach environment will suit you best when searching for flight deals, that way it will be easier to narrow your choice of destination down to just a few places.

They are very vivacious individuals and usually warm people. They welcome the guests or tourists with great hospitality and make you part of Mexican way of life, until you respect and adhere to local customs and traditions.

In Mexico, exchange of appropriate greetings is considered necessary and is important in their cultural circles. Handshakes are standard way of greeting each other. It is deemed almost absolute necessity for hand shake and exchange of greetings even to ask questions or directions to strangers. When you are meeting a group of people, you are expected to greet everyone in the group individually. Exchanging greetings with all at once is views as rude and being lazy on your part. Mexicans just love Spanish. If you put some efforts to speak in Spanish, even if you are very bad at it, they will forgive you and in fact appreciate your efforts. Even a simple “Buenes dias” earns you lot of respect from the local residents and they will accept you with open arms.

People living in urban areas can speak English effortlessly. You may find language barrier or communication problems only in certain rural areas. It is important to be grammatically correct when conversing with locals. Use of idioms or colloquial terms is seen as being impolite. Speaking slowly or in disjointed sentences is viewed by locals as an insult to them. If you need to end the conversations abruptly, never make and excuse that you need to be somewhere else. This is considered as bad manners and locals may not take it properly.

There are few more communication tips that one has to remember always. Mexicans are really not very good on personal space. Don’t get surprised while conversing with locals, if they stand closer to you than usual distance. Between 2 PM and 5 PM, it is siesta time. Any meeting or gathering you schedule around this time will never get you much attendance. In Mexico, refusing an invitation is taken to be very rude, so locals may still accept your invitation but there is no guarantee they will arrive.

Flirting comes natural to Mexican men. It is not at all surprising to get an odd teasing comment or hear men whistle at you, if you happen to be woman who travels alone. These need to be taken as compliments instead of confronting them as confrontations will lead nowhere. There are few bars which are men only bars. Women should avoid such areas completely. Some Mexicans may see it as a dishonorable for a woman if she is travelling without male escort. Though some of you may find it chauvinistic and outdated rubbish customs and views, you should not forget that you are a guest in Mexico. Being guest it is expected of you to understand and respect their traditions, beliefs and customs. It is safe for tourists to stick to known bars and hotels.

One final thing for tourists to take care is not to pass any comments what so ever on family and religion. These two are integral part of Mexicans culture and they take any comments on religion or family very seriously.

Among the well-known Mexican legends are the Legend of the weeping woman or “La llorona” and the Legend of the sacred woods of Chapultepec. Mexico is also famous for its Tex-Mex food which is a mix of recipes from Texas, America and Mexico. Mexico is also famous for its recipes in corn, gourmet creations and foods such as tacos, enchiladas and burritos.

Another popular ingredient of Mexican cuisine is the chili which is used to add spice to a lot of meals. It is also a vital ingredient of the Tabasco Hot Sauce and also the main component for many dishes such as stews, sauces, gravies and other salads that are served in Mexico.

One cannot stop talking about Mexican cuisine without mentioning about the famous Mexican Desserts. Mexican Desserts are simply mouth watering as they combine both sweet and hot elements. Another favorite treat among tourists is the Mexican candy. There are several varieties of candies and the most popular variety is the corn-flavored candy.

There are so many different dishes that are unique in their own way and the long lasting taste will always keep your taste buds craving for more.

You can even plan your honeymoon in Mexico. It is definitely a country which will make your trip amazing and worthwhile.

If you are intending to make a Mexico trip, there are some important things that you should be aware of. Here are some tips that you need to follow to ensure that the trip is safe throughout and you don’t leave Mexico with bad memories worth the name.

•	Learn more about the place you are planning to visit. It is better to do a research about this place and even understand some of the security threats in that region through the state website.

•	If you are thinking of carrying valuables with you, think about this issue twice. Only take the things you think you need badly. Valuable items you won’t need at in the trip can be left at home.

•	Make sure you have scanned copies of your important documents such as passports and as well as travel documents in your email inbox.

•	Share the details of your travel with someone confidential. It is better not to even murmur to your fellow passengers on what you will be up to when in Mexico. This is one common mistake that people commit and later face the worst consequences due to this.

Mexico is poor with water purification system. In fact, it is better that you vaccinate yourself before going to Mexico. It is always advisable to drink bottled water only. Clean water is a problem everywhere. Hence, you should watch what you drink to stay healthy.

It is better to opt for bus transportation since it is cheap and also provides you with snacks as well as drinks. Another feature of taking a bus is that they are convenient and are punctual.

If you are a physically handicapped person, it is best to take the travel agent’s advice on the places that you can reside during your Mexico Trip. You need to do this because not all Mexican hotels are physically-handicapped friendly. Thus you should ensure that you do this before you can land there. Else, you could get into uncomfortable problems.

Have an idea about what the weather will be like. The various places in Mexico experience different weather. Hence it is important that you know where you are heading to and how the weather is going to be. This will give you a brief idea on what to carry and what not to. Thus your Mexico Trip will be a success.

Mexico is a unique vacation destination, for example Mexico is a place where even the day of the dead celebration is a riot! That simple fact probably sums up the culture in Mexico for you! Mexico has to be one of the most vibrant and lively places on Earth. Even the scenery is breathtaking with snow capped volcanoes, desert landscapes and ancient Mayan ruins. The old colonial towns in Mexico give the country a look that somehow manages to be traditional and modern at the same time.
The beaches and unique flora and fauna of Mexico have made it a paradise for beach bums and eco-tourists alike. This land of romance has been a favorite amongst honeymooners for many years and the wedding planning industry is thriving in Mexico due to its sensuous beauty. The more adventurous can go hiking in the huge untamed jungles, find deserted lonely beaches, and discover ancient Mayan ruins!

Where ever you go and whatever you do, Mexico is above all a land of fun. Many of the fun activities center around the sea (no doubt due to the year round sunny climate and the crystal clear waters) how about snorkelling with sea lions or swimming with dolphins! Mexico has everything to thrill the water sports enthusiasts.

You can immerse yourself in the Mexican culture, learn Spanish, vegetate by the pool, or visit the lively bars and experience the exotic night-life of Mexico – the choices are endless. If you can, try and include a visit to the the Copper Canyon in your vacation package, this is a natural wonder of the world, much deeper and larger than even the Grand Canyon!

Mexico City is the capital and the political nerve center of Mexico. On the surface it’s all glamor and excitement but underneath Mexico City suffers from many problems and disease. Despite that no vacation in Mexico would be complete without visit to this city.

If you are the sort of person who enjoys learning about other cultures, then a visit to Guadalajara is a must. Peppered with museums and galleries, this is the mother lode of Mexican culture. Another trip definitely worth taking is a day trip to Isla Cozumel, this is possibly the best place for diving in Mexico.

Of course you cant really talk about Mexico vacations without mentioning Acapulco, although heavily urbanised with tourist resort developments, it should not be overlooked. Acapulco did not become one of the worlds busiest vacation destinations for nothing! With beautiful lagoons and the golden beaches, hectic nightlife and the famous cliff divers it still has much to offer. Ok, the hollywood crowd might not visit any more as they have found new pastures, Acapulco still has an innate charm.

Places to visit on inclusive vacations Cozumel Mexico

Cozumel’s only town, San Miguel de Cozumel, has an old school elegance combining the charming traditions of colonial Mexico with the amenities of the 21st century. The heart of the town is the center plaza (Parque Benito Juarez), however the locals refer to it as the “zocalo”. The plaza is surrounded by shops, restaurants and hotels and is a pedestrian only area. The area is always popular but particularly so on Sunday evenings when you can enjoy the free open-air concerts and dances. The main part of the Plaza is called Avenida Rafael Melgar if you like the idea of shopping on your Cozumel Mexico vacation then this has a good selection of high class jewellers, souvenir shops, designer shops and restaurants.

Many of the tourists on inclusive vacations to Cozumel Mexico love to find out more about the history and culture of Mexico. Alongside the Avenida Rafael Melgar you have the malecón, a sea-side boardwalk featuring many sculptures to commemorate historical events. At the north end you have the Museo de la Isla de Cozumel (Cozumel museum) where you can learn all about the Mayan history. Downtown San Miguel offers a more traditional Mexican ambience and you can also find small family owned hotels which have lower prices than the modern resorts.

To the north and south of San Miguel itself you will find the luxurious modern hotels and tourist beaches popular with the Cozumel Mexico vacations tourists. The Costera Norte (North Coast), which is commonly referred to as “Zona Hotelera Norte”, begins just outside San Miguel. The majority of the beachfront consists of exclusive resorts with their grand entrances and private swimming pools. The biggest beach is Santa Pilar Beach, closely followed by San Juan Beach.

The Southern Hotel Zone (the Costera Sur) is located along Carretera Chankanaab, here you will find the best beaches starting with Corona Beach and ending at Palancar Beach. There is a famous coral reef running parallel to this part of the coast called Parque Marino de Cozumelis.

The two largest beaches in the Costera Sur are San Francisco Beach and Mia Beach , both are popular with the many cruise ship crowds that can take over the area when they visit. On Sundays, San Francisco Beach is a popular spot for local Mexican families. Both beaches offer safe swimming and snorkeling.

Parque Punta Sur to Punta Molas

Cozumel really does posess a heady mix of ancient and modern, with a range of activities and amenities to rival any resort in the world.

Cancun and the Riviera Maya (the coastline to the south of Cancun Mexico) have some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, the locals are extremely friendly and accommodating, and the resort accommodations are world class. Cancun has long been one of the most popular resort destinations worldwide. Whether you prefer the hustle and bustle of the Cancun night-life, top class tax free shopping, exciting water sports, exploring the incredible Mayan ruins, scuba diving, or simply relaxing with a book and working on your sun tan by the pool.

Most of Cancun’s resorts are in the Hotel Zone (25-km Zone of double waterfront, ocean on one side and lagoon on the other), but just because you are on an all inclusive vacation this does not mean that you are tied to the resort the whole time! Many of the all inclusive packages include complimentary day-trips to the Mayan Riviera so guests can visit the Mayan ruins, coral reefs and eco-theme parks such as Xcaret.

When booking a Cancun Mexico all inclusive vacation deal, its important to do some research beforehand, a few minutes of research beforehand can save countless hours of frustration at a later date! Book your vacations with companies that have an active presence in the resorts, with agents that regularly visit the resort to ensure the facilities and service are of the required standard. In addition try and figure out exactly what you need from your vacation, people go on vacation with many different goals and expectations, so make sure the resort is the right one for your individual needs. For example some of the resorts specialise in family vacations with plenty of activities for kids to give parents a much needed break, this is great for families with young children but what about a honeymoon couple? Make sure you book with a resort that caters for you!

The purpose of this article is to ensure you have a safe, healthy and fun trip to Mexico. Subjects we will cover include what to know before you go, Consular information, health matters, legal problems and last but not least crime! Believe it or not almost 16 million U.S. citizens visit Mexico every year. Although the vast majority of tourists from the USA have a great trip, some do experience severe difficulties and/or serious inconveniences.

What to know before you go to Mexico

Prior to travel, learn as much as you can about Mexico and your specific Mexican destination. Use the resources of your travel agent, local/online bookstores, public library and even the Mexican embassy, these are all useful sources of information. Another source is the U.S. Department of State’s Background Notes series for Mexico which has information regarding Mexico travel. You should also check to see if the Department of State has issued a Travel Warning for Mexico. Even after arrival keep abreast of local and international news coverage of the area. If you are in an area where communications are poor, experiencing civil unrest or some natural disaster such as hurricane or earthquake, you should register with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate leaving a detailed itinerary and passport details (this information should also be left with a friend or relative in the United States). Carry photo identification and the name of a person to contact with you in the event of serious illness or other emergency at all times. It is also a good idea to photocopy your airline/travel tickets and travelers checks details and leave copies with someone at home, and carry extra copies with you.

Mexico health information for U.S. travellers
Health problems sometimes affect tourists in Mexico. Information on health precautions can be obtained from local health departments or your personal doctor. Guidance can also be found on the Centers for Disease Control’s international travelers hotline at (404) 332-4559.

It is a good diea to review your health insurance cover prior to travel. In some parts of Mexico, particularly at the exclusive resort areas, medical costs can be as high or even higher than in the USA. If your existing travel/medical insurance policy does not cover you for Mexico, it is strongly recommended that you either purchase an additional policy or upgrade your existing cover. There are short-term health insurance policies designed specifically to cover travel available online. If you are traveling to the more remote areas of Mexico please ensure your policy also covers the high costs of medical evacuation should this be required. Note:The U.S. government cannot pay to have you medically evacuated to the United States!

List of recommended immunizations are diptheria, tetanus, polio, typhoid, and hepatitis A for all U.S. citizens. Normally, these immunizations are given during childhood. For visitors traveling directly from the United States, no immunization paperwork is required to enter Mexico. If you are traveling to an rural area where malaria is a possibility you should obviously consult your physician or the Public Health Service to arrange medication prior to travel. Note:Malaria is not considered a problem in the main resort areas! If you suffer from asthma or any other respiratory or cardiac conditions it is advisable to give Mexico city a wide berth! The air pollution there is severe and in addition Mexico city is in a high altitude area. Consult with your doctor if you are unsure. In all areas drink only bottled water or water that has been boiled, be careful of ice cubes that may not have been made with purified water. All Vegetables and fruits should also be peeled and/or washed in a purified water.

Crime in Mexico
As a rule of thumb, take the same precautions against assault, robbery, or pickpockets as you would take in any large U.S. city. Keep your billfold/wallet in an inner front pocket; wear the shoulder strap of your camera, purse or bag across your chest; leave valuables and irreplacable items in a secure place such as hotel safes when available. Be vigilant in crowded public areas such as bus and train stations, festivals, malls etc for pickpockets. While at the Pool or Beach. Don’t leave your valuabless on the beach while swimming. Keep your passport and other valuables in the hotel safe if possible.

Consular information
The USA Embassy and consulates in Mexico offer a wide range of services to assist any U.S. citizens having problems. U.S. embassy officials meet on a regular basis with Mexican authorities to promote the safety and well being of U.S. citizens in Mexico.

This is where the Mexicans actually spend their weekends and holidays and is still something of an undiscovered secret on the tourist trail.

The island is a nature reserve so is protected from the developers building frenzy which is affecting much of the areas around Acapulco, Cancun and Cozumel . There are two great beaches, Playa Roqueta beach (where the boats arrive) and Playa Marin beach ( much more secluded!). There are three restaurants with bar service and even a small zoo.

The nearest hotel to the island is the Mayan Sea Garden Acapulco Resort. Set on one of the best beaches in Acapulco, this picturesque resort hotel gives you easy access to a number of excursions and activities in addition to Isla la Roqueta. There is an 18-hole, par 72 championship golf course, Tennis Club, kayaking on the resort’s lake and a refreshing pool with its own waterfall. All rooms are finished to a high standard and come with air conditioning, satellite TV and direct dial telephones. In addition to trips to Isla la Roqueta take advantage of their cliff diving excursion to La Quebrada ! prices start from around $50 per night.

An unusual feature on the island are the beer-drinking burros, these wild mules are the only full time inhabitants of the island and can sometimes behave outrageously to the delight of tourists after sinking a few cold beers!

The main attraction of the island is snorkelling and diving however, the crystal clear waters (up to 30ft deep) are home to an incredible range of marine life which are well used to divers and it is not unusual to find yourself swimming through vast shoals of fish! The surf is mild and of course the water is warm, basking in the Caribbean sunshine almost all year round. There are many snorkelling and diving excursions to the island which can be booked from most of the hotels in Acapulco. These trips include cost of return boat trip, diving gear hire and even barbecues on the beach. However, if you are on a budget, there is nothing to stop you taking your own gear (or hiring it cheaply from one of many shops) then just hopping on a boat to the island.

These sites are much closer and require minimal driving time, such as Pelican Rock, Lands End, or North Wall. Total excursion time is only about 2 hours so you can fit this into your schedule but still enjoy some snorkeling and see a variety of colorful tropical fish and other marine life in their natural environment.

Lucas, Mexico. The excursion includes an orientation briefing, then a skilled trainer will lead you out to the educational pool where you will have 15 minutes to pet, stroke, hug, kiss, and get to know your dolphin. You will get to see how smart they are and how powerful their bodies are when you get up close and personal with the guidance of an experienced dolphin trainer. You will learn basic dolphin training techniques as well as how to feed the dolphins during this tour.

The above are just a sample of the Cabo san Lucas excursions that are available on your vacation, the only problem you will ever have with Cabo san Lucas excursions is choosing which tours to go on!

Although Cancun is relatively unspoilt (compared to some resorts) and Mexico in general has a huge eco-tourism industry, there is no denying that nowadays in Cancun there are a lot less coconut palms and a lot more hotels! In fact in the tourist areas there is not a lot to see that is “Mexican” in any way, the hotels, shops and restaurants are mostly international, English is the main spoken language and from some angles you would be hard pushed to tell the difference between Cancun and the Gulf resorts of Florida. However, despite this modernisation, Cancun still holds its appeal. The fact that movie stars and billionaires have been visiting Cancun since the 80’s to experience this luxury retreat gives it a certain aura!

Although the basic offerings may seem similar the actual snorkelling trips can vary greatly and it is important to double check with each tour company exactly what is included. We have had stories of people being promised nature park passes, food and drinks, diving equipment and instruction, only to find many of these things were additional cost items! The best way to avoid these disappointments is to buy tour direct from operator (or via tour operator website) that way you at least have some comebacks and can pay by credit card giving the oportunity to chargeback the snorkelling tour if it differs substantially from the information given to you. Most of the problems occur when people buy from vendors selling trips and excursions in the street or on the beach, these people generally work on commission and can promise anything just to make the sale!

Travel Tips for Grand Coco Bay Mexico

Exchange your currency into Pesos at any of the currency exchanges on Playa del Carmen’s 5th avenue. They will give you a better exchange rate than you will get at your resort hotel.

Take the ferry to Cozumel for a day, its inexpensive and a fabulous day out

use the Playa Express, it’s a van that goes between Cancun and Playa and costs around $2 – way cheaper than taxi’s

Always barter when it comes to buying gifts downtown, vendors expect you to haggle so will mark up prices by 2-300% – if you dont haggle you will be ripped off!

Always use the hotel concierge when booking any additional trips such as diving or ecursions to Mayan ruins etc. They will make sure you are not conned
