There are many different tours in and around Cancun to choose from, one of the most popular being snorkelling tours or the so called snorkeling adventures Cancun tours. Most of these tours follow a similar intinerary:-

• arrive at pick up point
• boat ride to snorkelling location
• 30-45 minutes snorkelling with kit provided
• the better tours usually offer a second snorkelling dive at a different location
• finish with a beach buffet or BBQ then boat ride back to drop off point

Although the basic offerings may seem similar the actual snorkelling trips can vary greatly and it is important to double check with each tour company exactly what is included. We have had stories of people being promised nature park passes, food and drinks, diving equipment and instruction, only to find many of these things were additional cost items! The best way to avoid these disappointments is to buy tour direct from operator (or via tour operator website) that way you at least have some comebacks and can pay by credit card giving the oportunity to chargeback the snorkelling tour if it differs substantially from the information given to you. Most of the problems occur when people buy from vendors selling trips and excursions in the street or on the beach, these people generally work on commission and can promise anything just to make the sale!

This is a typical snorkeling adventure consisting of two guided tours; AM tour takes you to a shallow reef where for 40 minutes snorkelling. Pm tour to a second and deeper reef with a totally different habitat, for another 40 minutes. Rounded off with food and cocktails on the beach.
